Halloween 2008

Why is it that everyone's Halloween decorations have been up for what feels like months? I don't feel like I need a month to celebrate Halloween. There are so many kids functions, starting way back in September. I like to have a few extra besides the actual day, but come on!

Of course, I'm just bitching about it because we just put our decorations. Today. ;-p

Elise had a costume ballet class yesterday, and the kids had their school parties today. And of course tonight......

And then we will leave our decorations up til Thanksgiving. At least :-)

Halloween always starts with the carving of pumpkins at our house:

Walking to school this morning.....
At school, we always have a Halloween Parade. Usually it is through the school, with each grade walking through the other grade's classrooms. It is very chaotic and crowded (imagine most of the parents and younger siblings lining the school halls whilst the children all walk by.....). This year, since it was so warm, they decided to do the parade outside.

Here comes kindergarten with Dr. Hilliard (the principal) -
The kids all walked around to the back of the school, made a giant circle, and then did a circle inside the circle one grade at a time. Remember, we have about 400 students at our school.......
Kindergarten Parade: kinder parade

3rd Grade Parade:

Then all of the grades have their own Halloween parties. Here are some assorted pictures of both K and 3rd grade.

And here we are ready for Trick-or-Treating. The Grande Finale.
Returning from Trick-or-Treating. What a great night - they are home, and it is still 60 degrees outside! Gotta love Colorado.....

What kind of heathen celebration is that going on in a PUBLIC school??? Okay, I'm just seething with envy here and remember what it was like to have FUN at school once in a while.
