Thursday we hung out with friends a bit at Chatfield, in an area we call "the frog ponds". It is actually a small isolated section of the reservoir. There are lots of creatures to be found there - we saw crawfish, tadpoles, frogs, toads, live and dead fish, pelicans, other birds, cool bugs. Again, I forgot my camera. Ah well.
Friday I had a nice LLL meeting. Brooke and I had ALL of our kids there - that could be intimidating for a brand new mother! Luckily, they played mostly quietly in the hall.
After that, the kids and I did some art projects modeled after these Glue and Pastel Landscapes. We drew our simple pictures with pencil on dark construction paper, then went over the lines with white school glue. After letting the glue dry overnight, we colored the drawings with chalk pastels, with lots of blending. They turned out great:

Friday evening we went to the Littleton Irish Festival. Pretty much a let down, as we expected more music and better drinks/food. Typical carnival-fare food, and on the beer front, Coors bought out the rights to drinks. Nothing even remotely Irish re beer, except if you count Killians. The music was disappointing, too. Lovely sunset, though.
There's always the possibilty of interestingly-dressed people showing up in my front yard:
To try and make up for our Irish disaster, we headed out to Denver for Brewgrass, a beer and bluegrass festival Saturday. It was packed! We couldn't get very close to the music, but we could hear it pretty well. It seems that the festival planners didn't expect so many people - the space was tiny, and the good beers were running out. Vendors (some very good vendors bythe way, many of our favorite microbreweries were there) were leaving to local liquior stores and returning with cases of their beers, which they then put into their barrels. The best part was people watching, of course. We met some great dogs, and the kids danced.

You know it's a good festival when you can add that you met some good dogs! LOL.
