Lotsa stuff in KY

Well, I'm already developing an accent. Hard not to do when visiting Kentucky.

Our first full day at the lake the kids were very busy, Owen built a 'birdhouse" Elise collected items for her fairy houses, the kids rode scooters. Elise wiped out on her scooter, note the awful road rash on her elbow (see the blood under the bandage?), with matching set on her knee.

That night Elise requested corn for dinner, she helped grandpa shuck the corn, and then couldn't wait, she had to eat an ear raw. Owen made his world famous chocolate-stuffed cherries and blueberries for dessert.

After dinner was games with great grandma, then dress up games came along. Not unusual if you know my kids. They got a little crazy. Elise was so wound up that she couldn't fall asleep. She was literally howling for about an hour.

The next day we went to visit Grandma Bertie in the city :-) The kids did crafts with grandma, and cousin Elizabeth came over and did more crafts and playing.

Popsicles on the porch.

We also went to Jacobson Park to feed the ducks. We saw lots of baby ducks, one group of them were cuddled up together on the bank. Some kid there had caught a whole bucket full of baby red-ear slider turtles (silver dollar size). We never did see any in the lake, we guess he cleaned out the whole litter (or whatever you call a bunch of turtle hatchlings!)

Clover-chain necklaces!

Kite flying!

Later, we visited with our friends. They were cat sitting some kittens, very tempting. Here they are nursing with mama:

We went out to one of our favorite restuarants in town, Joe Bolognas (Joe B's). We were all pretty goofy by this time!

Next day we went to an art show at Midway College, a small women's college. The show was great, all very inspiring. They had a fun kids art table, where my children did NOT do the suggested craft, but sat for about an hour drawing masterpieces. Ah well, I won't complain about that.

Grabbed a pic of Elizabeth and Lori relaxing in the shade: The kids showing off their "sticks" from the spoon carver:

And then dancing to a local bluegrass band:

The road to the art show was lined with cool banners that were all tie-dyed. And then were also throughout the show. Owen found that he was able to camoflouge very well into this one:

Practicing with the camera timer - the pic with the kids didn't turn out so good!

And the grand finale - as we drove back to the lake, we listened once again to The Sound of Music and had to bring the music inside to continue. Here is the kids' rendition of So Long, Farewell.............
