January

Got this great shot of Owen and Pecky while Elise was doing her science fair project. A boy and his chicken.

And following the Harry Potter theme in our home.....

Last week was Science Fair at our school. The kids love doing projects, and I love being a judge at the Science Fair.
Elise's project involved chickens and food.....

Owen's project, which was required work for 4th grade (K- 3rd is voluntary), flopped. He grew corn from seed in different soils. (I think it was due to the cold temps in our house at night....) But he got an "A" anyway, since he followed all the correct procedures for the science project. As we all know, experiments don't always work out as expected.

This weekend's full moon was the full moon closest to the earth, therefore appearing the largest. Friday early evening the moon came up, huge - before sunset. So we decided to go on the full moon hike at Bear Creek Lake Park.

It was pretty warm out, relatively, so it was a great evening for a hike. However, the moon rose much later on Saturday, so we couldn't watch the moon rise on our hike. A big disappointment.

The hike was nice, though.
Owen with downtown Denver in the background.
The park is right next to a golf course, so the kids took liberties.... (they were far away at this point, hence the blurriness).

Beautiful foothills.

Beautiful girls.

Silly boy.

The moon finally rose on our drive home, so I found a good place tostop and take pictures. Not nearly so dramatic as coming up while the sun is still out, though.

Added in the flash to get the kids in, makes the moon look insignificant!
PS the scowl on Elise's face is just par for the course lately.
